SpEd Forms: Thursdays at Three – Applying for your NPI and enrolling with MHCP

If you’ve been hearing about NPI numbers lately and wondering, “Wait… is this something I need to deal with now?”  The short answer is yes.  Beginning September 1st, 2026, the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) will require providers who bill for IEP Medicaid services to obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI).  To help make this process a little less painful, in this week’s Thursdays at Three session, we’ll walk through how to apply for your NPI and how to enroll it with Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP). We’ll keep it practical, go step by step, and leave time for questions.

Who should attend: Mental Health Professionals, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and MA Coordinators.

You can find the meeting link and options to add the meeting to your calendar directly in SpEd Forms. Simply log in, go to the ‘Help center’, and join us live right from the program.

Join us on Thursday, March 12th at 3pm and take the guesswork out of the NPI process!
